Rhondda Cynon Taff county, usually called just ‘The Rhondda’ or ‘The Valleys’, consists of five valleys; the Rhondda Fawr, Rhondda Fach, Cynon, Taff and Ely. Once famous for it’s coal, having 60 mines, it is now still recovering from it’s environmental and economic impact. The valleys have plenty of ruins and castles to find.
